According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, the British royal family is taking seriously the aforementioned Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle in an interview with Oprah Winfrey about the problems the couple faced after the wedding.
In an interview, Meghan admitted, in particular, that after she became a member of the royal family, she felt lonely and was forced to remain silent. She also said that thoughts of suicide “constantly” visited her.
She turned to several high-ranking representatives of the royal court with a request to send her to a clinic for psychological counselling, but she was refused.
However, one of the most pressing issues for Meghan was racial. She complained to Oprah that she was informed that Archie’s son would not be given the prince’s title and would not receive protection like the rest of the royal family during her pregnancy. Also, according to Megan, there was talk around how dark his skin would be after birth.
Harry confirmed the fact of such a conversation but did not name its participants. After the interview, he stressed that neither Queen Elizabeth II nor her husband Prince Philip spoke about this.
“The whole family was upset when they found out how difficult the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” said in a statement issued on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.
“The issues raised, especially those related to race, are troubling. While some memories may vary, they are taken seriously and will be privately reviewed by the [royal] family, ” the communiqué said.
The statement emphasizes that Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be beloved family members.
