Britney Spears’ father has agreed to give up custody of his daughter

The singer has been under the care of her father since 2008

After a high-profile trial, Jamie Spears, the father of American pop singer Britney Spears, agreed to give up custody of his daughter.

Reuters report this.

The media got access to court documents stating that the singer’s father “does not believe that his public fight with his daughter on the issue of custody will be in her interests.”

According to Spears ‘lawyers, because of the scandal that unfolded around the custody situation, he became the target of “baseless attacks.” It is reported that Spears now intends to cooperate on the transfer of custody rights to another person.

The singer has been under the care of her father since 2008 after she was admitted to a psychiatric hospital due to problems with alcohol and drugs. Spears continued her musical activities while her personal and financial affairs were under the control of her father and managers.

In 2021, the singer appealed to the court with a request to terminate custody of her. According to Spears, her guardians put pressure on her, forcing her to work and perform on stage, and forbade her to marry and have children.

Jamie Spears denies these charges.
