Britney Spears asked the court to terminate her father’s guardianship over her

American singer Britney Spears asked the court to terminate her father’s guardianship over her, CNN reports.

On Wednesday, 39-year-old Spears made a virtual phone call to the court in the custody case over her.

“I’m traumatized. I’m not happy. I can’t sleep,” the singer said about the 13 years of guardianship over her.

During her speech, Spears criticized the actions of her family, especially her father James Spears. “I have been working since I was 17… I want the guardianship to end,” she said.

Britney Spears is one of the most popular singers of our time. After the first two records (1999-2000), she was recognized as the best-selling singer of the decade in the United States, she took 12th place among the richest women in the world of show business.

The singer’s mental health, which used alcohol and drugs, was shaken after her divorce from her husband Kevin Federline in 2007. Spears and Federline were married from October 2004 to July 2007, they have two sons.

James Spears and lawyer Andrew Wallett received temporary custody of Britney Spears in 2008, after which the guardianship was extended indefinitely. In 2019, Britney’s father became her sole guardian.
