British athlete Hector Pardoe had his eye smashed in the 10 km swim at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Briton was forced to finish the swim ahead of schedule after one of the competitors broke him eye with an elbow. The Briton called a lifeguard and was forced to complete the swim.
“I was shouting, “My eye, my eye!” I thought I was going to lose my eye; it was bleeding. I didn’t see anything at all,” Pardoe said in an interview with the BBC.
The World and European Championships winner in the French national team, David Aubrey, also had to finish the fight in the swim ahead of schedule. Before the Olympic Games, he was worried about a shoulder injury.
