Britain supported the US strikes on Syria

Britain supports US strikes against “militia groups attacking coalition bases,” British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab wrote on Twitter.

Earlier on Friday, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the United States struck a pro-Iranian militia in Syria in response to the shelling of its forces and believes that this will contribute to de-escalation in the region.

“The UK supports targeted US strikes against militant groups attacking coalition bases in an attempt to destabilize the region. We recognize the threat posed by the militants and share the US intention to work together with partners to de-escalate the situation,”

Raab wrote, without mentioning the word “Syria” in the message.

According to a Pentagon official, the strikes destroyed some facilities located at a border checkpoint used by some Iranian-backed militant groups, including Kataib Hezbollah and Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada.
