Brazil was predicted to collapse due to coronavirus

Brazil was predicted a collapse of the health care system due to the coronavirus pandemic. Such a forecast was made by Professor of Duke University Miguel Nicolelis, Associated Press reports.

“We have crossed a milestone unimaginable in a country with a public health system, a history of effective vaccination campaigns and medical professionals. The next stage is the collapse of the healthcare system, ” Nicolelis said.

It is noted that in Brazil, 2.4 thousand people per week die from coronavirus. According to experts, their number could rise to 3 thousand per week in less than a month. Peaks can reach four thousand deaths in one day.

On March 16, it was reported that there were no places left in the resuscitation centres overcrowded due to coronavirus in Brazil. In 25 of the 27 state capitals, intensive care units were working to the limit. People lined up to get to hospitals.
