Bolton asked the Pentagon for information about the possibility of the US strike on Iran

The assistant to the President of the United States for national security John Bolton in 2018 asked the Pentagon for information on Washington’s ability to strike on Iran, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources

According to the newspaper, the request caused concern in the military and foreign ministries of the country.

“People were shocked. It is incomprehensible how lightly they treated the strikes on Iran,” one of the interlocutors of the newspaper said.

It is noted that the Pentagon has developed options for possible the US action against Iran, but it does not specify whether this information was received by representatives of the White House, and whether the American President Donald Trump knew about the request of Bolton.

Earlier, Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that some the US officials are “first class idiots”.

In addition, it was reported that the US senators could not proceed to vote on the bill, which provides for the introduction of new sanctions against Russia and Iran for assistance to the government of Syria.

General Director of the Center for political information Alexei Mukhin in an interview with the FAN commented on the situation.
