The new fairing of the New Glenn rocket is more than 7 m in diameter – it is so large that it can completely accommodate another Blue Origin rocket – New Shepard.
The height of New Glenn will be 95 m, and the maximum carrying capacity will exceed 45 tons. In the future, New Glenn will deliver into orbit both commercial cargo and carry out military and scientific missions.
In addition, the company tested the BE-3U top stage engines at its facility in West Texas. Engines use the “expander cycle” design – it is simpler than other engines because the heat that drives the turbine is also generated in the main combustion chamber of the fuel.
Blue Origin also successfully tested the BE-4 engines of the main and second stages for the rocket.
