The meeting will be held in a close format to the press.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will hold a meeting with Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya on Monday. This is evidenced by the schedule of the head of American diplomacy distributed by the press service of the State Department.
“Secretary Blinken will join the meeting of Deputy Secretary of State [for Political Affairs Victoria] Nuland with the leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya at the State Department,” the document says. The meeting is scheduled for 12: 10 local time. It will be held in a close format to the press.
Tikhanovskaya arrived in the United States on July 18. Speaking to representatives of the Belarusian diaspora in the center of Washington, she said that during the trip she plans to hold meetings with American President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Blinken, but she cannot yet confirm them exactly.
In the Telegram channel of Tikhanovskaya, it was later reported that on July 19, she was scheduled to meet with Blinken and Nuland, as well as State Department adviser Derek Chollet. On July 20, she plans to meet with the assistant to the US President for National Security, Jake Sullivan, at the White House, and also visit the Senate of the US Congress.
