Blinken said that the United States is actively working to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

The US Secretary of State stressed that Israel has the right to protect itself, but it needs to do everything possible to avoid civilian casualties.

The United States is working intensively behind the scenes to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated this on Monday in Copenhagen at a press conference following a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

“The United States remains concerned about the escalation of violence. Hundreds of people were killed or injured, including children. We are also concerned that journalists and health workers are at risk. Palestinians and Israelis, like people around the world, have the right to live in security. And this is not the privilege of Israelis or Palestinians, it is about human rights, so the violence must stop. We are actively working behind the scenes to try to resolve this conflict,” he said. “As we said earlier, Israel has the right to defend itself. We call on Hamas and other groups in the Gaza Strip to cease their rocket attacks immediately. I think that Israel, as a democratic state, has an additional burden – to do everything possible to avoid civilian casualties. We call on all parties to avoid any actions that could reduce the chances of peace in the future. We call on both sides to ensure the protection of civilians, especially children, and to respect international humanitarian law,” Blinken added.
