WASHINGTON – Billionaire Michael Bloomberg has joined the campaign for the US presidential election, releasing a video urging people to vote for him.
Earlier, 77-year-old Bloomberg filed documents to participate in the preliminary elections (primaries) of the Democratic Party of the United States in several states but did not make official statements in this regard.
In the video, the announcer briefly talks about Bloomberg and his achievements as an entrepreneur who created thousands of jobs, and as mayor of New York, which he served three consecutive terms in 2002-2013. One of the main motives for participation in future elections is called opposition to Republican President Donald Trump.
The video ends with the words “Michael Bloomberg – for President!”, after what already himself billionaire says the phrase “I-Michael Bloomberg and I approve this appeal” (traditional for political advertising the US form of authorization).
The winner of the Democratic primary will be named in the summer of 2020. He will challenge Trump, who intends to run for a second term. Elections will be held on November 3, 2020.
