Biden will offer the ex-fed Chairman Yellen a post of the Minister of Finance

If approved, she will become the first woman to head the US Treasury Department.

President-elect Joe Biden will nominate former fed chair Janet Yellen as Treasury Secretary, several US media outlets reported.

Reports, including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, note that Yellen, who was appointed head of the fed by President Barack Obama if confirmed by the Senate, will become the first woman to serve as Treasury Secretary.

Biden said last week that he had decided on Treasury Secretary’s choice and would name the candidate shortly before or shortly after thanksgiving.

Yellen, 74, was also President of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and chief economic adviser to President Bill Clinton.
