US President Joe Biden urges migrants not to try to enter the US illegally, including from Mexico. The American leader said this in an interview with the ABC TV channel, which was partially published on Tuesday.

Biden was asked to comment on reports of a rapid increase in the number of migrants detained by US authorities at the border with Mexico. The head of the White House noted that the growth in the number of illegal immigrants, in particular, was observed in 2019 and 2020.

Biden disagreed with the claims that what is happening is the result of his allegedly too soft approach to illegal immigrants. “I can clearly say-don’t come,” he added. The US President also called on migrants who intend to enter the US illegally “not to leave their cities.”

This week, the US Department of Homeland Security said that the country should be ready to arrive at a record number of illegal migrants from Central American states over the past two decades.

Earlier, Biden lifted the state of emergency imposed by his predecessor Donald Trump in connection with the US-Mexico border situation.
