Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has apologized for commenting on the lack of diversity in the African American community.
Earlier in an interview, Biden said that the ethnic group of Hispanics in the United States is “incredibly diverse” in contrast to African Americans. President Donald Trump immediately criticized his upcoming rival, calling the statement offensive.
Earlier today, I made some comments about diversity in the African American and Latino communities that I want to clarify. In no way did I mean to suggest the African American community is a monolith—not by identity, not on issues, not at all.

In addition, on Thursday, Biden got into an altercation with an African-American journalist who asked the politician if he took a cognitive test. Prior to that, the incumbent President Trump has repeatedly publicly indicated the age of his rival (Biden is 77, Trump is 74) and expressed doubts about his mental fitness for the presidency.
