Biden sent five thousand troops to Afghanistan

U.S. President Joe Biden said that he authorized the deployment of up to 5,000 U.S. military personnel to ensure the security of the reduction of diplomatic personnel in Afghanistan.

“Based on the recommendations of the military, diplomats, and intelligence, I authorized the deployment of about 5 thousand American military personnel to ensure the safe reduction of U.S. personnel and our allies, and the safe evacuation of Afghans who helped us during the mission, and those who are at risk due to the advance of the Taliban,” Biden said in a statement issued by the White House press service.
