American leader Joe Biden intends to fight for re-election to the presidency of the United States in 2024. He announced this on Thursday at his first full-format press conference since taking office as head of state.
“My answer is yes. I plan to fight for re-election. This is what I expect, ” he said. Later, answering a clarifying question, Biden added that, in principle, he does not like to think about the future, but at the moment, his expectations are precisely those.
“I said I was expecting this,” he explained. “I can never confidently plan for four or three and a half years,” Biden added.
He was also asked if he expects to participate in the elections with Kamala Harris as a candidate for the vice president’s post.
“I fully expect it to be, she does a great job, she is a great partner,” Biden replied.
The current president was also asked about his predecessor, Donald Trump, who, according to the journalist, had already begun to prepare for the next elections at a similar stage in his presidency. “My predecessor… Oh my God, I miss him so much,” Biden replied, laughing.
The President was asked if he expected Trump to be his opponent again in the next election. “Enough, I don’t even think about it. I have no idea. I have no idea even if there will be another GOP. And you?” – answered the head of state.
The previous U.S. presidential election took place on November 3, 2020. On December 14, 2020, the Electoral College approved the results of the vote, according to which the Democrat Biden won the victory. His inauguration took place on January 20. Republican Trump did not admit defeat for a long time and appealed to the courts with a demand for a recount of votes in several states. However, the actions of his lawyers were unsuccessful. The courts rejected their claims.
