Biden criticized the Pentagon’s ban on the LGBT flag

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden supported the Pentagon’s ban on displaying the Confederate flag, but criticized the ban on the LGBT flag, promising to return this right.

“The prohibition of the Confederate flag on military installations is long overdue. The banning of the LGBT flag – a true symbol of diversity and inclusivity-is wrong. The Pentagon must guarantee that it will resolve it. Otherwise, I will do it as President,” he wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

Earlier, US Defense Secretary Mark Esper signed an order that contained a list of flags allowed to be displayed at military facilities. The Confederate flag and the LGBT flag were not included.

The list of flags allowed to be displayed on military installations or their territories consists of nine items that do not mention the Confederate flag. An exception is made for Museum displays, graves, monuments, and some other situations in which this “cannot be considered as a support for the flag by the Ministry of defense.”
Earlier, the US Navy and Marine Corps announced the prohibition of the flag of the slave-owning South during the Civil war.
