Biden condemned the looting and arson on the protests in the United States

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said that nothing could justify looting and arson attacks on protests.

“Protests are protests, but nothing can justify looting, arson, and so on. No matter how angry you are, but if you are engaged in robberies, arson, you must be held accountable, period,” Biden said during a conversation with residents of Kenosha, Wisconsin.

“This is not who we are. I am an optimist, and I am optimistic about the prospects that we have if we can use them,” he added.

Biden is visiting Kenosha two days after a similar trip by US President Donald Trump, who stayed there on Tuesday, despite an urgent request from local authorities not to do so. During the visit, Trump met with police officers and inspected the damage caused to the city by the riots, and promised to allocate the city of Kenosha and the state of Wisconsin a total of about $ 47 million for restoration and security. During the visit, Trump did not meet with the family of injured African-American Jacob Blake.

Biden himself has already met with Blake’s family upon arrival in Wisconsin and their lawyers. The meeting lasted about an hour.
