Biden chooses US vice presidential candidate

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said he has selected California Senator Kamala Harris as vice-presidential candidate.

“I am honored to announce that I have chosen Kamala Harris, a fearless little man and one of the most honorable people in public office, as my fellow electioneer,” Biden wrote on Twitter.

Harris ran for the presidency but did not show significant results in the primaries.

As vice president, if 77-year-old Biden is elected, 55-year-old Harris will lay claim to the party leader after he leaves.

Also, if elected, she will become the first woman to serve as vice president and the first black politician to serve.
