The US President takes part in the meeting of the leaders of the “Bucharest Nine” in the video conference mode.
This was announced by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, who stressed that the summit participants focused on the security of the Black Sea region and the situation in Ukraine.
The meeting of the leaders of the Bucharest Nine will be chaired by Iohannis and Polish President Andrzej Duda.
“I am pleased to welcome Joe Biden to the Bucharest Nine Summit, which I will chair today,” Iohannis wrote on Twitter.
“Together with President Andrzej Duda, we also welcome Jens Stoltenberg as we prepare for a NATO summit focused on transatlantic ties, NATO 2030, defense and deterrence on the eastern flank,” the Romanian president added.
President Biden, as well as NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, and the Presidents of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovakia will attend the summit in a video conference. The first summit of the Bucharest Nine was held in Bucharest in November 2015. Subsequently, the band members also held meetings in Warsaw in June 2018 and Kosice in February 2019.
