Best UFC fighter Jones quits light heavyweight title to go heavyweight

Jon Jones, UFC light heavyweight champion and leader of the overall rankings regardless of category, left the title vacant.

“I officially confirm that I am leaving the light heavyweight title vacant. It was an amazing journey. Thanks to the opponents, the UFC, and most importantly, the fans”, wrote 33-year-old Jones.

The refusal of the title is not conditioned by the retirement from the promotion or the end of the career – the fighter has chosen a new challenge and will move to the next weight. “I just had a positive conversation with the UFC. It looks like there will be talks about my next fight in the heavy division. This is good news, I am starting to gain weight”, added the American.

Jones’ statistics – 26 wins one defeat and one failed fight.

The heavyweight title is held by Stipe Miocic.
