Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has tested positive for coronavirus, said his doctor Alberto Zangrillo.
According to a specialist quoted by local media, Berlusconi’s illness passes without symptoms, and the politician is in home isolation.
It is also noted that the leader of the party, “Forward, Italy,” passed the “test on his return from a trip to Sardinia.”
According to the press service of Berlusconi, he continues to work in his residence, where he will spend the stipulated period of isolation.
“In any case, he will continue to support the candidates from “Forward, Italy,” and other center-right parties in the regional and administrative elections (September 20-21), giving daily interviews in Newspapers, on television, and social networks,” the statement said.
Sources from forwarding, Italy, told reporters on August 25 that Berlusconi did an urgent double test for a coronavirus infection, which came back negative. Berlusconi’s decision was prompted by the fact that earlier it became known about the emergency hospitalization in connection with the COVID-19 infection of another famous Italian businessman, the former Manager of Formula 1 teams, 70-year-old Flavio Briatore. Then Berlusconi returned from Sardinia, where he was vacationing with his new girlfriend, member of the national Parliament Marta Fascina. On August 12, the former Prime Minister received Briatore at his Villa on the emerald coast of Sardinia.
