According to the Times of India, a fighting rooster accidentally killed its owner before bird fighting in the Indian state of Telangana.
According to police, 45-year-old Tanugul Satish brought the bird to Jagital to participate in the fighting. Before the beginning of the fight, the rooster tried to escape and accidentally hit its owner in the groin with a knife attached to the paw. Bleeding, Satish was taken to a local hospital, but he died on the way.
Law enforcers registered the manslaughter case and delivered the rooster to the police station. At the same time, they denied statements by news channels that the bird was allegedly arrested.
“The police are responsible for protecting the rooster during the investigation and presenting it in court along with the knives that were tied to it,” sub-inspector B. Jivan said.
He added that the bird will not be charged but should be presented to the court as the cause of human death. The judge will determine the fate of the rooster.
Jivan said that instead of a feathered one, the police would arrest and bring to court people who took part in cockfights prohibited in the state of Telangana.
