Australian interior Minister infected with coronavirus

Australian interior Minister Peter Dutton said that he was found to have a new type of coronavirus COVID-19 and, according to medical requirements, he was hospitalized.

“I woke up this morning with a fever and a sore throat. I immediately contacted the Queensland Department of health and then passed the COVID-19 test. In the afternoon, the Ministry of Health informed me that the test was positive,” the Minister said in a statement posted on his official Twitter account.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian Minister recently went to the United States, where a meeting of representatives of the Five Eyes Alliance of intelligence services (USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) was held. According to ABC, during the trip, which took place last week, Dutton met with the US Attorney General William Barr and the daughter of the US President Ivanka Trump.

Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison said that he does not need to self-isolate, because, according to the recommendations of doctors, this should only be done by someone who had contact with an infected COVID-19 within 24 hours before the appearance of his first symptoms.

The World Health Organization declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus a pandemic on March 11. More than 125 thousand people in more than 110 countries have been infected in the world, most of them have recovered, but more than 4 thousand have died. In Australia, 199 cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus have been detected so far.
