At least one person was killed in an explosion in Beirut

At least one person was killed in a powerful explosion that occurred on Tuesday in the port of Beirut, Sky News Arabia TV channel reports, citing its correspondent.

“Our correspondent reports: there is news of at least one dead,” the TV channel said in a statement, which did not provide additional details.

A strong explosion occurred on Tuesday evening in the port area of Beirut, the explosion was preceded by a small pop, five minutes later there was black and white smoke, and then there was a powerful explosion, a column of red smoke rose into the sky. In homes within a radius of several kilometers from the epicenter, the blast broke windows.

The cause of the explosion, according to Lebanese media, could be a fire in one of the warehouses where pyrotechnics were stored.
