Apple is working on a TV box with an integrated HomePod and camera

Mark Gourmet from Bloomberg has shared his next insights into future Apple innovations. He reports that the Cupertino-based company is working on a new smart home device. This is a more advanced version of the Apple TV that includes the functionality of a HomePod smart speaker and has a built-in camera.

The device will offer users all the capabilities of a conventional Apple TV set-top box – you can watch movies and play, but plus this device will be able to answer your voice requests (a speaker will be installed), and will also allow you to chat via FaceTime.

The current generation of Apple TVs are also capable of responding to voice commands, but this requires holding down the microphone button on the remote to summon Siri. Much more convenient, this feature is implemented in smart speakers, where the device always listens to you.

Perhaps the new device will occupy the price niche of the HomePod, which was recently discontinued. However, Bloomberg notes that the prototype is at an early stage of development, and may not become a serial product at all.
