Apple is considering using a periscope camera in future iPhone

The Korean edition of DigiTimes, citing an industry source, reported that Apple plans to add a periscope camera to the future iPhone.

Unfortunately, there is not much information about this. According to an insider, the Korean manufacturer Samsung Electronics may become a supplier of periscope sensors. Whether it will be installed in the iPhone 13 lineup is not yet clear. Perhaps the company will first study the technology, test it, and only by 2022 will it release smartphones with such a camera to the market.

The current iPhone 12 lineup has a telephoto lens with only 2.5x optical zoom support as a reminder. For comparison, competitors such as the Huawei P40 Pro, Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Vivo X50 Pro+, OPPO Find X2 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra use periscope sensors with optical zoom up to 10x.
