The second wave of coronavirus infection will occur in November. This opinion was expressed in an interview by the head of the group of experts on the treatment of pneumonia in Shanghai, Zhang Wenhong, according to Sina.
The specialist explained his position by saying that COVID-19 is more adapted to low temperatures, and therefore it is likely that it will spread faster in winter.
At the same time, Zhang Wenhong expressed confidence that the next wave of virus spread will not be so rapid. The main problems, he said, may arise in countries in Africa and South America, where the health system does not have sufficient resources to fight the disease.
At the end of March, Zhang Wenhong in an interview with People’s Daily suggested that the global spread of the coronavirus will stop closer to June, but it will not be possible to completely defeat the disease this year.
Commenting on the assumption that the virus registered at the end of last year in Wuhan could have mutated and spread in Europe in a more aggressive version, the expert said that it is too early to talk about it. According to him, it is possible to make statements about changes in the structure of the virus only after careful research.
