“All goals have been achieved.” Russia withdraws troops from Ukraine’s borders

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has decided to complete the verification activities in the Southern and Western military Districts, as all the goals have been achieved.

“I believe that the goals of the surprise inspection have been fully achieved. The troops demonstrated the ability to provide reliable defense of the country. In this regard, I have decided to complete the verification activities in the Southern and Western military districts,” Shoigu said on Thursday in Crimea at a meeting on the results of the actions of the Southern and Airborne troops during the surprise inspections.

The Minister set the task “to the General Staff, the commanders of the military districts and the airborne troops to plan and begin on April 23 to return the troops to the points of permanent deployment, to conduct a detailed analysis and to sum up the results of the sudden inspection of the troops.”

The inspection of the Armed Forces began amid reports that Russian troops are massing on the border with Ukraine.
