American actress, the winner of the “Oscar” Olympia Dukakis died at the age of 89, said the brother of the actress Apollo Dukakis on his page on Facebook.
“My beloved sister, Olympia Dukakis, passed away this morning in New York. After many months of health problems, she finally found peace with Luis (the husband of the actress),” the brother of the actress said in a statement. According to the publication Variety, Olympia Dukakis is known for the role of Rose Castorini in the film “Moonstruck,” for which the actress won the Academy Award and the Golden Globe in the category “Best Supporting Actress.” The film also stars Cher and Nicolas Cage in the lead roles. Dukakis was also nominated three times for an Academy Award for her roles in the TV series “Lucky Day,” “Tales of the City,” and “Joan of Arc.”
