About 650 US military personnel will remain in Afghanistan to protect diplomats

The withdrawal of the main part of the troops from the country is planned to be carried out by July 4.

It is expected that about 650 American troops will remain in Afghanistan to ensure the safety of diplomats after the withdrawal of the main part of the American armed forces, which is planned to be carried out over the next two weeks.

This was reported to the Associated Press by representatives of the US authorities.

Several hundred more American troops will remain at the Kabul airport to help Turkish troops with security.

Perhaps they will stay there until September.

According to officials, this is considered as a temporary measure for the period until a formal security system under the leadership of Turkey is established. According to sources, the United States expects that the withdrawal of most of the American and coalition troops will be completed by July 4 or soon after.
