A twin-engine plane crashed in Brazil, killing seven people, according to the local portal Globo.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Piracicaba.

“The plane crashed in a forest area and exploded, resulting in a fire in the crash area,” the portal said in a statement.

According to the fire service, there were two pilots and five passengers on the plane-members of the same family. They died on the spot. Due to the explosion and fire, their bodies were charred, and their identity had not yet been established.

The cause of the crash is being investigated. Specialists are trying to bring the fire under control.
