A relative of Elizabeth II was sent to prison for attempted rape

Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne Simon Bowes-Lyon, grand-nephew of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, was sent to prison for 10 months for attempted rape, the Sky News TV channel reports.

It is alleged that in February 2020, there were guests at the castle of the British aristocrat. At night, Simon Bowes-Lyon burst into the sleeping girl’s room and tried to rip off her clothes. The guest was able to fight him back, pushed the count out the door and called friends for help.

The queen’s relative apologized to the attack victim, explaining his act of strong alcoholic intoxication. As the count said at the trial, he himself did not expect this from himself. “However, I had to face reality and take responsibility for what happened,” added Bowes-Lyon.

According to him, he received professional help for the whole last year.
