A package containing white powder and a threat was delivered to the house of Senator Rand Paul

The senator indicated that he is not inclined to consider the received threat as someone’s joke, as he has been attacked more than once.

The FBI and Capitol Police have launched an investigation into the delivery of a package containing an unknown powder and a threat to the house of Republican Senator Rand Paul (from Kentucky). This was reported on Monday evening by the newspaper Politico.

The “package”, the newspaper writes, was accompanied by an image of a bandaged Paul with a gun held to his head. Below it was written: “I will finish what your neighbor started…”

The author of the message recalled the attack that the senator was subjected to in 2017 by his neighbor in the city of Bowling Green, Rene Boucher. The verbal altercation between them turned into a physical confrontation, as a result of which Paul was injured – he had five broken ribs. Boucher was then found guilty and sentenced to 30 days in prison, and Paul was paid compensation for almost $600 thousand.

In his Twitter, the senator indicated that he was not at all inclined to consider the threat he received as someone’s stupid joke, since he had already been attacked more than once. “I take these threats very seriously,” he wrote. The Capitol police have not yet commented on the threat to the senator.
