A court in the US blocked the construction of part of the wall on the border with Mexico

A judge in California imposed a temporary ban on the use of part of the funds allocated by the Pentagon for the construction of the wall on the border with Mexico. As explained by judge Heywood Jilliam, Congress did not issue permission to use the money for the wall project.

In particular, the court blocked $1 billion of the total amount of $6.7 billion allocated for construction. According to the judge, if Congress rejected the Executive’s request for the necessary funds, it is impossible to “find a way to spend the money without the permission of Congress.”

We will remind, the President of the United States Donald Trump has long tried to coordinate the project of the wall on the border with Mexico, which caused the record of the shutdown in US history. In April, the US Defense Ministry said that the construction of the wall will require $986 million. Completion of works under these contracts is expected by October 2020.
