The Chinese social network Weibo has as many informers as Twitter. And sometimes they publish very interesting data. This time, for example, an insider with the speaking nickname Mobile chip master said that it turns out that the 5-nanometer single-chip Huawei Kirin 1020 platform turned out to be more expensive than the Apple A14, which will be used in the iPhone 12.

Kirin 1020 is not only more expensive than Apple A14 but also more. But at the same time, Huawei’s SoC is still smaller than the promising single-chip Apple A14X platform, which should replace Intel processors in Mac laptops.

The performance issue of the Kirin 1020 and Apple A14 is still open, but here, most likely, Huawei will not be able to bypass Apple. According to rumors, the Kirin 1020 CPU will use Arm Cortex-A78 cores, which means that in terms of CPU performance, this platform will be faster than the current Apple A13 Bionic, but the A14 will be even more powerful, both in CPU and GPU.
