44 US citizens on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in the port of Yokohama, Japan, have been diagnosed with the 2019-nCoV coronavirus. The Washington Post regarding the Director of the National Institute of infectious diseases, Anthony Fauci, reports this.
According to him, the patients will be treated in hospitals in Japan.
The Diamond Princess has been quarantined in Yokohama since early February. There was an outbreak of coronavirus on the board. In total, there are about 3.7 thousand passengers on the ship.
According to the latest data, the number of infected with the virus on the liner reached 355 people.
The quarantine should last until February 19. On February 15, the US government announced its intention to evacuate its citizens from the liner. They will be taken out of Japan on two planes prepared by the state Department.
