More than 40 students and elementary school staff in southern China in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were stabbed in the attack, China’s state media reported on Thursday, June 4.
The attack occurred in the morning in the village of Wangfu near the city of Wuzhou. A 50-year-old man who worked as a security guard at school unexpectedly threw himself with a knife at children and adults who were in the building at that moment.
Most victims, according to preliminary data, are preschoolers under the age of six. One of the students, the headmaster and another guard, as reported by Chinese media, were seriously injured. The attacker was arrested by the police, the motives for the attack have not yet been established.
The media reminds us that this is not the first knife attack in China, usually, such actions are performed by mentally unbalanced people. That is why schools in China are protected.
