38-meter statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro “dressed” in a medical gown

In Rio de Janeiro, on mount Corcovado, the statue of Christ the Redeemer was “dressed” in a doctor’s robe for Easter. This is reported regarding the local news outlet.

This action symbolizes a sign of solidarity with health workers who are fighting daily for the lives of patients infected with the new coronavirus, the report says.

It is noted that thanks to the artistic lighting, the monument appeared in a new form. The statue was highlighted in the colors of the national flags of the countries most affected by COVID-19, including the United States, Spain, Italy, China, and Brazil.

Also, the organizers designed the word “thank you” on the statue of Christ the Redeemer in several languages, including Portuguese, Spanish, German, French, English, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, and Russian.

“This is a message of hope in a difficult period of the global pandemic,” said the Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, Cardinal Orani Joao Tempesta.
